Restorative Practices Symposium

Event Date/Time:
Thursday, August 9, 2018 - 8:30am - 4:00pm

In August 2017, a new state law was enacted requiring educators to consider the use of Restorative Practices in disciplinary decision-making. As a result, the use of Restorative Practices is increasing in schools across Michigan. With the help of several non-profit organizations, many educators are being provided with restorative services and resources, along with professional development opportunities, but there’s more work to be done.

As the use of Restorative Practices continues to gain traction, the demand for information and training about these concepts and processes is growing exponentially. The Michigan Restorative Practices Symposium is designed to meet that demand.

Symposium participants will learn about:

  • The impacts of zero tolerance and rationales for 2016 PA 360.
  • Restorative concepts and practices.
  • The components of a successful program.
  • Resources for taking the next steps in their school or district.
