2013 FREE Explore and Plan Tests
The Bureau of Assessment and Accountability (BAA) within the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) recently issued a memo about plans to extend the pilot for paid Explore and Plan tests for this upcoming Spring. Note this year’s pilot does require participating schools to test during the established window: of March 4 – April 12. Schools can take advantage of this opportunity to develop a testing continuum of Explore in 8th, Plan in 9th (District funded), Plan in 10th and the ACT in 11th (as part of the MME). Establishing year-to-year testing would allow a school to use the results to develop a student growth model for the educator evaluation process and for school improvement purposes.
MASSP regularly offers workshops on using Explore and Plan data for school improvement. We will be conducting sessions around the State this year in partnership with MACAC (Michigan Association of College Admissions Counselors) and ACT. Check the MASSP website or click here for a list of dates and locations.
Spring 2013 Michigan EXPLORE/PLAN Pilot Project
Later this month, details regarding the 2013 Michigan EXPLORE/PLAN Pilot Project will be emailed directly to all public school districts and public school academies serving students in grades 8 or 10. In the meantime, please be aware of the following:
- Only grade 8 EXPLORE® and grade 10 PLAN® testing are included in the pilot.
- Only public schools and public school academies are eligible to participate.
- The Spring 2013 District Participation Agreement will be submitted online during a special materials ordering process that will be facilitated by ACT. IF YOUR DISTRICT WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THE 2013 PILOT, DO NOT ORDER MATERIALS AT THIS TIME. Only materials ordered through the special process will qualify for the pilot and payment by the state.
- The testing window for the project will be March 4 – April 12, 2013. For the 2013 pilot, the state will only pay for tests administered during this testing window.
Please watch for complete details to be emailed later this month.
