$2M in Title IIa Funds Available for Building, District and Teacher Leader Supports - Aug. 10 Application Deadline

Last week, MDE announced that approximately $2 million in Title IIa funds is now available to support improving the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals and other school leaders. The grant funding has been allocated for the following activities:

  1. Building and District Leader Supports:
    Provide training and support for principals or other school leaders who are recruited as part of instructional leadership teams. (ESEA § 2101(c)(4)(B)(v)(II))

  2. Teacher Supports:
    Provide training and support for teacher leaders who are recruited as part of instructional leadership teams. (ESEA § 2101(c)(4)(B)(v)(II))

  3. Educator Evaluation System Supports:
    Invest in teacher and leader evaluation systems; refine and revise these systems to support continuous improvement of instructional practice. (ESEA § 2101(c)(4)(B)(ii))
    Provide training for principals, other school leaders, coaches, mentors and evaluators on how to accurately differentiate performance, provide useful and timely feedback and use evaluation results to inform decision-making. (ESEA § 2101(c)(4)(B)(ii)(II))

IMPORTANT: Districts may submit request for up to $2,000/participant average when viewed as an aggregate for these competitive grant dollars through the MEGS+ system. The grant application opens on July 20. The deadline for submitting an application is August 10, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. For more details, please see MDE's Memo.
