Each year, the College Board awards scholarships for qualifying teachers to attend an AP Summer Institute (APSI), as well as to teachers who are required to attend an AP Capstone professional development event. These programs are offered to teachers at schools without funding for professional development, and who meet specific requirements.

APSI are considered to be one of the most effective professional development opportunities offered for AP teachers. The Institutes feature a full slate of sessions that are led by consultants of the College Board from around the country who are considered to be national experts in the courses they teach.

In 2018, the College Board is offering the following scholarship programs for AP teachers:

  • AP Fellows: For teachers at schools with a majority of underrepresented and/or low-income students.
  • AP Rural Fellows: For teachers at rural schools.
  • AP Redesign: For teachers planning to teach the redesigned subject—AP U.S. Government and Politics—in fall 2018.
  • AP Capstone: For teachers who are planning to attend the AP Capstone summer professional development event.

You can learn more about the specific criteria for each scholarship and access applications on the APSI Scholarships website. If you have any questions or concerns, please email apsischolarships@collegeboard.org.
