Blended Learning in the Classroom - Course Pilot

The REMC Association of Michigan is seeking volunteers to pilot a FREE 10-week professional development course to learn about and implement blended learning in the classroom.

This is a rigorous learning experience during which educators can expect to spend about 6-10 hours per week online followed by the application of newly learned concepts and strategies in your classroom. If you're up to the task, sign up now! The pilot course has 10 different sections. Each section is limited to 10 registrants. Section start dates are available from September 24 to October 3, 2012. The Blended Learning in the Classroom course provides training and sustained support to transition your classroom into a blended learning environment. The course is based on research and teaches effective strategies to implement highly effective blended learning. The course kicks off with a meeting with your instructor. Much of the course will be asynchronous (at your pace) within individual modules, with due dates for completion of each module.

Blended Learning in the Classroom Course Overview

Participants will engage within a blended course, and as part of the course will begin developing a blended learning environment to implement immediately.

Each week participants will be expected to:

  • read content,
  • participate in collaborative activities,
  • complete assignments,
  • apply the learning immediately within your classroom.

Much of the work will be asynchronous (at your pace) within the module, with due dates for completion. The course kicks off with a meeting with your instructor.

Participants can expect to spend 6-10 online hours each week for course work. Additional time will be expected each week for implementation into your own class.

  • Building Community
  • Online Learning & Accessibility
  • Online Assessment & Evaluation
  • Policies & Preparation

When selecting the section you wish to sign up for, please note the following information:

  • Each of the 10 sections is limited to the first 10 registrants.
  • Each section begins with a face-to-face meeting (either in person or virtual) to meet your instructor. The date for this meeting is listed on the registration page at http://www.solutionwhere.com/remcam/cw/showcourse.asp?15.
  • The section location of the face-to-face meeting is also listed for in person attendance

This course is 10 weeks long and relatively rigorous and will be in addition to the work you do in your classroom every day, please be sure to take that into consideration before registering. Additional opportunities will be available throughout 2013.
