How Do You Keep Up?! Let Us Help You Grow's picture

Homecoming is over, the year is underway and it is time to focus on your own professional learning! There is constant change in the Michigan education landscape. Principals are expected to make decisions every day that have legal implications - what are you doing to make sure your knowledge base is up to date and current? It is with these concerns in mind that MASSP plans our annual Principals Summit.

Join us on Nov. 6 and 7 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. The event includes legal, legislative and MDE updates that will keep building principals well-informed and knowledgeable on a host of issues. We look forward to an awesome legal update from our keynote speaker, attorney Kevin Sutton from Lusk & Albertson, on a wide range of current topics from student speech to transgender rights and everything in between. The event will also feature a legislative and MDE policy update from MASSP's Director of Government Relations, Bob Kefgen.

In addition to these key updates, we will also have breakout sessions on a myriad of topics, including:

  • College Board: Getting Ready for PSAT 8
  • College Board: Khan Teacher Tools & other supports
  • Work Smarter, Not Harder: Tech Tools for Administrators
  • AP Computer Science
  • Beyond Content Standards - Social Emotional Learning Helps Students Achieve
  • Improving Relationships with Teachers

The Summit also features an opportunity to pick from two extended learning breakout sessions:

  • Student Growth for Principals, with MASSP's Associate Executive Director Colin Ripmaster
  • Developing Learning Mindsets Through Strengths-Based Leadership, with MASSP's Associate Director Steve Seward

We hope you will take the time to get out of the building, take a breath and grow your own professional practice.
