Item Writers Wanted! Apply By Monday!

As a Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Governing State, the Michigan Department of Education is pleased to provide Michigan educators with the opportunity to apply to be item writers for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics Common Core State Standards Pilot Testing. This pilot testing will occur in early 2013. The item development work for this pilot will take place between June 1st and August 15th, and the deadline to apply is Monday, June 4, 2012.

Attached please find an invitation from the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium describing this opportunity, including information on eligibility of applicants, time commitment for interested educators, and application information.

Approximately 5-10 Michigan educators will be selected. Please apply directly to CTB/McGraw-Hill as described in the attached document. This application period is for 2013 pilot item development only; there will be future opportunities for Michigan educators to participate in SBAC item development. Details on those future opportunities will be shared as they become available.
