MASA Announces 2017 Michigan Superintendent of the Year
Written by Chris Wigent, MASA Executive Director
It was my honor on Monday to present the 2017 Michigan Superintendent of the Year award to Dr. Rob Glass, Superintendent of the Bloomfield Hills School District. I hope you will join me in congratulating Rob for earning this honor through his hard work and dedication to the children, education staff, and community of Bloomfield Hills.
Rob was in excellent company among a pool of highly qualified superintendents from across the state who were nominated for this year's award. The Superintendent of the Year selection committee – composed of representatives from various education stakeholders groups, including superintendents, principals, teachers, as well as representatives from the State Board of Education, the Michigan Parent-Teacher Association, and local school boards - had their work cut out for them as they worked to select this year’s honoree.
Please note that as the 2017 Michigan Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Glass is now in the running for the National Superintendent of the Year Award which will be presented at the AASA National Conference in New Orleans in March. We will also recognize Rob for his achievement at our 2017 Midwinter Conference next month to be held in Grand Rapids.
Congratulations to Rob and all of those who were nominated for this prestigious award. Public education is alive and well in the State of Michigan, and we are all thrilled to have someone with Rob's commitment to children receive this award and represent our group over the upcoming year.
