MASSP Statement on the Passing of State Superintendent Brian Whiston

MASSP members are mourning the loss of State Superintendent Brian Whiston who passed away Monday evening following a battle with cancer.

Appointed State Superintendent by the State Board of Education in April 2015, Whiston had been receiving medical treatments since his cancer diagnosis last fall and went on Long-Term Disability Leave on May 4. He was 56 years old.
