Tammy JacksonThe Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals is please to announce the addition of a new staff member, Tammy Jackson, who will serve as Associate Director beginning this fall. We hope you will join us in welcoming her to the MASSP team.

Tammy joins the MASSP staff after a 31-year tenure with the East Jordan Public Schools, first as a teacher then assistant principal/athletic director and finally principal for the last 18 years. Along with her extensive tenure as a school administrator, Tammy has served on MASSP’s board of directors including two years as president.

Tammy has also been an instructor for MASSP Path to Leadership program and played a role in the development of course work for the program. As a principal Tammy has been instrumental in her districts use of 5D+, including the training of the K-12 teaching staff.

Many administrators in Region 2 refer to Tammy as a mentor and role model. Throughout the years she has held leadership roles within the region and has offered her experience as a resource to others.

Outside of her position as school principal, Tammy has served the community where she works and lives, presiding over both on the East Jordan Rotary Club and East Jordan Chamber of Commerce.

While it is evident by her tenure in East Jordan that Tammy has the ability to sustain a standard of excellence she has also demonstrated ability to:

  • Work with teacher and student leadership teams to establish a culture of shared responsibility and collaborative leadership.
  • Assess and address the needs of her school in the area of curriculum, instructions, and assessment.
  • Effectively work with a community with diverse needs over a span of multiple generations.
  • Create programs and initiatives that are unique to her school demographic.
  • Increase student participation in AP courses by over 300% and develop creative scheduling that affords opportunities for students to gain college credit in a rural school district.

Tammy readily accepted the opportunity to join the MASSP team. I am excited to work with administrators from across the state during this critical time in education, Tammy said. I’m ready to continue to have an impact on student achievement by designing and delivering professional development to those who lead school buildings. I’m honored to join a team of high quality professionals at MASSP that fully realize the impact that strong leadership has on continued improvement in school buildings.

Please join the MASSP Board of Directors and staff in welcoming Tammy Jackson to the MASSP team. She will officially assume her full time duties as Associate Director in mid-September following a transition from her current position. Tammy can be reached at
