Over the years, I have always maintained my ASCD membership. It is a big challenge as a Principal to keep your focus on instruction and to keep up on professional reading. The ASCD Educational Leadership magazine has been on my night stand for two decades - it's always been my go-to for current trends and best practice in education. The May 2017 edition of the Educational Leadership magazine focused on school leaders and the article, "Five Perspectives for Leadership Success," really resonated with me. These perspectives will be the basis for this week's #MASSPchat questions.

This Week's Questions: (one posted each day)

  • Q1 (Monday): Approaching our work with teachers with positive intent is essential. How do you monitor your thinking to ensure you project a growth mindset when it comes to your staff? #MASSPchat
  • Q2 (Tuesday): People's belief and values drive their attitudes toward change not research/information. How do you work with this paradigm when you want to make change? #MASSPchat
  • Q3 (Wednesday): How do you develop a shared vision. How do you market your ideas as part of this process? #MASSPchat
  • Q4 (Thursday): How do you deal with staff resistance? What allows you to honor the concerns while still moving forward? #MASSPchat
  • Q5 (Friday): Do you agree w/this statement, "Every situation is best approached by listening first?" How have you learned this? #MASSPchat
