Each week, MASSP looks through all of the MDE communications sent to the field, including Memos and Spotlight, to ensure that you're aware of important information and deadlines. On Thursday, several MDE Memos were issued that you don't want to miss regarding Pupil Accounting, Dual Enrollment and Opioid-Related Overdoses. Each memo can be found below.

2017-18 Pupil Accounting Manual Update

The Michigan Department of Education has released an updated version of the Pupil Accounting Manual for the 2017-18 school year. The new manual is available on the Office of State Aid and School Finance website, or may be accessed directly through the following link.

Notice of Dual Enrollment Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Update

Dual Enrollment in Michigan is governed by the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act (PA 160 of 1996) and the Career and Technical Preparation Act (PA 258 of 2000) which provide for payment from a school district’s state aid foundation grant for enrollment of certain eligible high school students in postsecondary courses of education.

Guidelines for Responding to an Opioid-Related Overdose at School

Effective March 29, 2017, the Michigan legislature passed P.A. 385 of 2016 which allows local school districts to stock and provide an opioid antagonist to pupils or other individuals who are believed to have an opioid-related overdose. An addendum to the 2002 Model Policy and Guidelines for Administering Medications to Pupils at School provides guidance on responding to an opioid-related overdose.
