MEEMIC Insurance Company celebrated its 60th anniversary on April 20th. To mark this special milestone, the company hosted a celebration luncheon for its employees, agent representatives, and their staff at the company’s Auburn Office location.

“This 60th anniversary reflects the long standing success and strength that accompanies the MEEMIC Insurance Company brand in Michigan,” said MEEMIC President and CEO, Steve Monahan. “MEEMIC employees and agents have contributed significantly to the rich history that has always been focused on providing the educational community with excellent products and superior service. As we have done in the past, we will continue to exhibit our commitment to the legacy of advocacy and support for Michigan’s educational community.”

To mark this occasion, the company announced a special $25,000 contribution that will be made to the MEEMIC Foundation for the Future of Education. The Foundation, a non-profit organization that was founded by MEEMIC in 1992, serves to support the Michigan educational community by offering financial assistance in the form of mini-grants. The $25,000 will be used to fund a special funding round for fall 2010 that will be specifically dedicated to book grant requests of up to $500.

The Andy Steensma Agency of Kentwood, MI was also recognized at this luncheon as the 2009 Agency of the Year.
