The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium will be developing an online digital library designed to be a one-stop site with professional development opportunities to learn more about balanced assessment systems – in particular, formative assessment practices. The Digital Library is envisioned to have an extensive selection of resources necessary to transform classroom instructional and assessment practices in support of students' college and career readiness.

Michigan is looking to recruit 75-90 Michigan educators to be members of the Michigan State Network of Educators. The goal of the State Network of Educators is to identify and recommend resources for the Digital Library and to share the purpose and use of the Digital Library to other colleagues.

Expected Time Commitment: The initial development of the Digital Library will occur between January and August 2013, the State Network of Educators will be involved in feedback cycles through requests from State Leadership. The feedback turnaround schedule is expected to be 5-10 days. During August 2013 and June 2014 there will be five sets of trainings through the Cisco WebEx Meetings platform. The outcome from each of the trainings will be a series of recommendations of resources to upload to the Digital Library.

Reimbursement: All State Network of Educators volunteers are expected to complete his/her tasks outside of the regular work schedule. Smarter Balanced will pay a stipend to contracted volunteers with reimbursement for full participation estimated to be $1,300 - $1,500.

How to Apply: The deadline to complete and submit the application survey is Friday, January 25, 2013. Click this link to get started!
