Pi Lambda Theta Joins PDK International Family of Associations

Bloomington, IN —PDK International, a membership association for educators, announced today the acquisition of Pi Lambda Theta (PLT), a national honor society of educators. This acquisition completes the PDK International family of associations, which includes PDK, Pi Lambda Theta, and the Future Educators Association®.

With the addition of Pi Lambda Theta, the three associations support a full spectrum of future and current educators, beginning with the Future Educators Association for precollegiate prospective educators, continuing with PLT for collegiate preservice and practicing teachers, and concluding with PDK, a prestigious professional association of teachers, principals, superintendents, school district administrators, and professors.

“PDK is honored to add Pi Lambda Theta as a new member to our family of associations,” said William J. Bushaw, PDK International executive director. “With this addition, we can now stress excellence at every stage of the recruitment and preparation process, as well as provide support for practicing educators. This will create a continuous pipeline of great teachers. Nothing we do as a family of associations is more important than this.”

PLT will continue to operate as Pi Lambda Theta under the stewardship of PDK International, and it will maintain its selective membership standards, its mission, and its core values. Each association will continue to pursue its own unique mission while working to improve public education more broadly.
