“As One Door Closes… Another Opens”
From the President
Claudia Werner
Auf wiedersehn, tschus, zi jian, adios, au revoir, farewell…
No matter the language, it is always difficult to say good-bye. I will be retiring as Principal of Alpena High School on June 30, 2007, and, as many of you already know, moving with my husband, David, to the United Kingdom to assume the position of Head of Upper School at TASIS – The American School in England. We are truly looking forward to this next adventure in our lives.
A short thirty-three (33) years ago I began my educational career as a special education teacher in a classroom for emotionally impaired children. Even though it doesn’t seem all that long ago, many things have changed since that time. However, the one constant for me has been that I can still honestly say I look forward to going to work every day. I have had the opportunity to work with many wonderful people during my time in Michigan education, but it has been the students who brought real gratification to my life. I leave them and you with many wonderful memories.
The opportunity to serve as president of MASSP this past year truly has been one of the highlights of my career. Working with the MASSP staff and Board of Directors has been a pleasure. They are dedicated individuals committed to providing leadership to secondary principals and students across Michigan. MASSP is a professional organization in which you can be proud to claim membership. Thank you for allowing me to help guide our association in achieving its mission.
Vielen danke (many thanks), xie xie, merci, gracias, and thank you for all you do for the students in Michigan. Keep up the good work… the rewards are many!
